
Academic Program on the Role of AI in Strengthening medical Education at SAL Institute of Medicine Sciences:
Ahmedabad, June 12: SAL Institute of Medical Sciences and SAL Hospital, Ahmedabad, in collaboration with CSRBOX and IBM SkillsBuild, organized an academic program on the theme “The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Capacity Building for Healthcare Services.” The event was attended by CEO Dr. Nitin Shah, Dean Dr. Jayendra Jadeja, and Additional Dean Dr. Vijay Pandya. It was possibly the first program of its kind at SAL Institute where experts and students engaged in discussions on the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in medicine and healthcare.
CEO Dr. Nitin Shah emphasized that Artificial Intelligence is not being developed to replace doctors but to enhance their capabilities. He explained that AI can contribute significantly to early disease detection, improved clinical decision-making, and better quality of patient care.
Dean Dr. Jayendra Jadeja highlighted that modern medical education now requires not only strong medical knowledge but also an understanding of digital health, data analytics, and AI-based technologies.
During the program, students were introduced to various applications of AI in healthcare, including Agentic AI, Prompt Engineering, and Healthcare AI Tools. The participants engaged in interactive discussions and asked questions related to AI-driven healthcare services and medical research, which were addressed by the experts.
According to the organizers, this initiative represents an important step toward preparing students for the future demands of healthcare and technology. Special AI training sessions for medical students are also expected to be launched in the near future.
