True Success Is Achieved Through Consistency, Discipline, and a Commitment to Learning
National Skill Development Day, internationally celebrated as World Youth Skills Day onJuly 15, 2026 also aligns with the Skill India Mission, spearheaded by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE). The observance celebrates the strategic importance of equipping young people with technical, vocational, and digital skills to prepare them for employment, decent work, and entrepreneurship. United Nations theme “Skills for a shared future”, highlightsthis year’s World Youth Skills Day activities with an urgent need for innovative youth skills programmes—initiatives that empower young people not only to adapt, but to lead with empathy, bridge cultural divides, build resilience, and actively shape a more sustainable and inclusive tomorrow.
My message for the Youth is loud and clear “There is no short cut only Smart Work for Success”. Technology can help you work wonders if you know how to use technology. Focus on learning new technology or skills, try to solve problems around you using those acquired skills, communications skills and adaptability with consistent hunger for knowledge would work wonders for the future. Take small baby steps each day towards the expertise you have chosen to develop.
July marks the commencement of the Semester for existing as well as new Students. I would give mantra of 5 P’s for you to achieve prosperity and skill development:
• Purpose: Clarifying the direction of skilling to meet fast-paced market and technology evolutions.
• Planning: Creating a structured roadmap to align employability readiness with industry demand.
• Practice: Transitioning from theory to hands-on, deliberate, and industry-aligned training.
• Performance: Recognizing, formally assessing, and certifying the skills.
• Progression (Persistence): Sustaining lifelong learning and supporting continuous career growth despite industry shifts.
Five major distractions for youth which works as a barrier to Skill Development, I classify it as 5 D’s:
• Digital Media Overdose.
• Directionless.
• Drugs and banned substance addiction.
• Desire for luxury beyond their limits.
• Disorderliness or lack of discipline.
Success is not just Academic or Professional. Success means right combination of Good Health both Physical and Mental, Work Ethics, Social connections and Decent earning.
Usain Bolt frequently reflects on his career by highlighting the massive sacrifice behind his success, famously noting, “I trained 4 years to run 9 seconds”. In his interviews, he emphasizes that the brief, public moments of glory are built on years of unseen dedication.
Famous quote from Raj Shamani video “If you are losing, keep your head down and keep working, If you are winning, keep your head down and keep working, if people doubt you, keep your head down and keep working, eventually one day everything will change and people will call you Overnight Success”. So, I would end by the words “Keep your head down, keep working consistently without success going into your head”.
