Dr. Sailesh Iyer, Principal, NSIT Ahmedabad- Positive Use of Technology and Automation is only  Possible under  Human Supervision!

Dr. Sailesh Iyer, Principal of Narnarayan Shastri Institute of Technology, Institute of  Forensic Science and Cyber Security (NSIT-IFSCS) affiliated with the National Forensic Sciences University, Gandhinagar, believes that all achievements gained through innovative research in science and technology can be effectively utilized in a positive manner under human supervision.

Dr. Iyer stated that humans have conducted research in various fields and discovered numerous facilities aimed at improving human life. Research dimensions should be focussed on 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s). At NSIT-IFSCS,  cutting-edge technologies are used to solve challenges related to Wildlife Forensics, Geo-Spatial sensing, Multidisciplinary and Vehicle Forensics, Trauma Management,  Automated Investigation, Fraud Investigation etc just to name a few. He strongly affirmed that AI should be controlled by Humans and not vice versa. 

He further emphasized that the effective use of forensic science, cyber security, and available technological tools can significantly enhance the quality of human life. There is no doubt that these advancements have consistently contributed to making life more comfortable. He added that while new facilities are continuously being developed for human benefit, convenience is also increasing across other areas of life. NSIT-IFSCS with the able support of NFSU has pioneered in strategic research tie-ups with ISRO SAC,  Lifeline Foundation,  Polish Academy of Sciences (Poland) ,  University of Sousse (Tunisia) and with rich knowledge and expertise of experienced Faculties and International Adjunct Research Faculties are demonstrating commendable collaboration in research projects and quality publications.

According to Dr. Iyer, technological progress has made education, healthcare, production, business operations, transportation, and various other services more efficient, affordable and accessible. Challenge is to make Automation with human touch more viable for common person.  In the fields of education and healthcare, advancements in technology have led to improved teaching systems and medical breakthroughs, enabling the treatment of diseases that were once considered incurable.

He noted that scientific progress and innovations have brought revolutionary changes in every sector, benefiting the common people. Advancements in science have also helped improve business activities, from online transactions to transparent systems.

Dr. Iyer highlighted that  advancements in forensic science have ensured the availability of accurate information about crimes and have paved the way for identifying offenders, thereby aiding in crime control. Digital Forensics, Cyber Security tools and effective laws have enabled the safe use of modern technological tools and established better protection against cyber threats.

He pointed out that the growing inclination of today’s youth toward new technologies is a positive sign. Young people are progressing in every field through their hard work and capabilities and are moving forward in the direction of innovation and discovery. This, he said, is an encouraging trend.

Dr. Iyer believes that the youth of the country need to align with vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and  create affordable and effective solutions in various fields through their abilities. The presence of Indian talent is being recognized globally, which is a matter of pride for the nation.

It is noteworthy that Narnarayan Shastri Institute of Technology, Forensic Science and Cyber Security is a prestigious institution for technical education in the country.  With a positive approach and a commitment to human welfare, the institution continues to inspire progress, and its students are achieving significant accomplishments across various fields.

According to Dr. Iyer, vocal for local and Smart Villages and Cities can only be possible with joint participation of Educational institutions,  Government and Private Sector. 

The mantra for the students is  “Affordable Innovation with purpose for a Surakshit and Atmanirbhar Bharat.”
