
On the occasion of International Yoga Day 2026, SAL Institute of Medical Sciences, Ahmedabad, successfully organized a free health check-up and diagnostic camp at the old-age home located at Shri Bhagwat Vidyapith, Sola. The camp was conducted under the “Yoga for Healthy Ageing” campaign with the divine blessings of Param Pujya Shri Bhagwat Rishiji of Shri Bhagwat Vidyapith and under the guidance of Dr. Nitin Shah, CEO, and Dr. Jayendrasinh Jadeja, Dean, SAL Institute of Medical Sciences.
More than 80 beneficiaries underwent health screening and medical evaluation during the camp. Screening for hypertension (high blood pressure) and Diabetes Mellitus was carried out. In addition, a Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA) was conducted for senior citizens. This assessment evaluated the physical, functional, psychological, and social health of elderly individuals, enabling timely identification of health-related issues and providing appropriate guidance and care.
MBBS second-year students, intern doctors, and faculty members from the Department of Community Medicine actively participated in the camp. Along with health examinations, beneficiaries were educated and counseled on the importance of yoga, adopting a healthy lifestyle, prevention and control of non-communicable diseases, and the concept of Healthy Ageing.
The primary objective of this initiative was to increase awareness about lifestyle-related diseases, promote early detection of hypertension and diabetes, and improve the overall health and well-being of the elderly population through a holistic approach. The camp was successfully organized through the joint efforts of SAL Institute of Medical Sciences and Shri Bhagwat Vidyapith, Sola, reflecting their shared commitment to community health promotion and preventive healthcare services.
